See the performance in KVS Br Nona Demey Gallagher creates a satirical universe full of grotesque archetypal figures, where politics, (pop) culture and madness are inextricably linked. The central question: how can we live and survive in a loveless society? In 1986, experimental punk author Kathy Acker publishes Don Quixote, which was a dream – the novel that would later become a radical cult classic. While the classical story features a male knight setting out on a quest to rescue the princess and find the grail, Acker’s story starts in an abortion clinic. She does not seek noble heroism – all she seeks is love. This sets her on a fantastical quest, a series of confrontations that both enrich and agitate her world view. Not a heroic fairy tale, but a story about the madness that drives us every day.Nona Demey Gallagher (De Duivels/Les Diables, Copyriot, Up Your Ass, …) and writer Jana Antonissen transform the story into an interdisciplinary epic. Expect live music, extravagant costumes and text. Always balancing between knightly grandeur and feminine (self-)reflection, between parody and quest for truth, between enchantment and disillusion.Featuring Gene Bervoets, Zita Windey, Lotte Vanhamel, Jonathan Kazanga Linga, Fiene Zasada en Romy Louise Lauwers.
