close your eyes think: future what do you seeEmotions colour the way we imagine the future. Fear, desperation and insecurity translate into images of unliveable cities, natural destruction, conflict. Hope, trust and curiosity bring up images of new life forms, world peace, interplanetary living, … Dystopia, utopia – huge, epic world views, mirrors of our inner workings.We have a lively imagination about those future worlds.But do we have the same about ourselves?How do we, humans, see ourselves in the future?Who are we now, and who will we become?Change – how does that feel?Can we practice it? Can we practice the future?Inspired by the French cult book La Horde du Contrevent (2004) by sci-fi author Alain Damasio, choreographer Lisi Estaras creates a dance performance where she leaves behind the world as we know it. To do so, she gathers a cast that is seldom seen on our stages – an intergenerational group of dancers with and without disabilities.
