This is here. And there is there. There should stay there. There can never become here. There stays thereAnd here stays here. Here, everything stays as it is.We are from here. And you, you are from thereSo: go away.Thank you, have a nice day.In Wa Wilder Man, we fear ‘the other’.The figures on stage look at the audience with big, scared eyes.Who are ‘they’ over there in the audience? One thing’s for sure, they’re strange. Unknown. Scary … and small. What’s so strange about these strangers? So different about these others? To protect themselves from these strange intruders, the figures on the stage put on masks, disguise themselves, pretend they’re stronger than they are, and are hopelessly found out.For how long does different stay different? Does the other become part of us when we live with it? Or are we the ones that change? This performance was created ten years ago as a reflection on the 2015 refugee crisis. The world has changed a lot since then, but the fear for threats from outside, for a strange world that is not ours, for a collapse of all we know, is still a reality. That’s why, after ten years, we take another fresh look at this performance, make changes where needed, and present Wa Wilder Man in a new jacket.
