Saxophone Rebels

A journey through the saxophonists who challenged conventions and invented new musical languages, from Coleman Hawkins to John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Wayne Shorter, and many others. More than a tribute to the great figures of jazz, Saxophone Rebels explores the spirit of artistic risk and reinvention that has shaped the history of the instrument. Each of these musicians expanded the expressive possibilities of the saxophone, opening new paths in melody, harmony, rhythm and improvisation. Led by Stéphane Mercier on C Melody saxophone and featuring a quartet with guitar, the project revisits iconic compositions and lesser-known gems through fresh arrangements and a contemporary perspective.
