Across Generations: Fractures and Alignments
Avenue Van Volxem 164, 1190 Forest
In the wake of the City Council's declaration of Brussels as an antifascist city (on 8 May 2025), police have continued to beat activists and young protesters with intensifying brutality. This contradiction gives us more reason to question the imaginary that separates nonfascist life from contemporary antifascist struggles—or brings them closer together. Which forms of political action and organizing have the power to sustain protest or self-organize common resources and infrastructures under increasingly fascistic punitive capitalism? How do practices centered on care and those grounded in counterviolence in self-defense fare in relation to one another? This panel brings together activists from Brussels across generations to reflect on their stances, relations, and experiences of division and convergence in struggles.
