The Young Girls of Rochefort

Two sisters leave their small seaside town of Rochefort in search of romance. Hired as carnival singers, one falls for an American musician, while the other must search for her ideal partner. Following Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, director Jacques Demy made another musical film. Catherine Deneuve once again takes the lead role in this cheerful musical. She is joined by her older sister Françoise Dorléac, who would lose her life in a tragic car accident less than a year later. Another leading role is played by musical star Gene Kelly (Singin’ in the Rain).
