Louise van den Heuvel & Bert Cools

Festival artist Louise van den Heuvel likes minimalism, musically as well as line-up wise. She’s currently working on an album with duo’s only, inviting 9 of her befriended Belgian musicians and her bass and electric guitar playing as the common thread. Bert Cools will be one of the guests on that record, since it was only a matter of time before he and Louise van den Heuvel would join forces – or should we say strings? Some of the essential elements in Louise van den Heuvel’s musical universe – effect pedals, loops, ambient sounds and improvisation – tend to be Bert Cools’ favourite things too. The Antwerp-based guitar player, amongst others known from projects such as Hoera. and Merope with his production house Granvat, lays a distinct electronic touch in his sound – undoubtedly a perfect match for Louise van den Heuvel’s compositions and magical bass playing.
