THE VORTEX publication launch w/, Girls Like Us
Rue Auguste Orts 20 28, 1000 Brussels
After eight years of operating as a community project for trans and lesbian people in Brussels and around, Mothers & Daughters – A Lesbian and Trans Bar is wrapping up. In preparing for this chapter to close, and thinking of the futures that will open, Mothers & Daughters has created a collective publication in collaboration with Girls Like Us. This publication brings together new writing, conversations and visual works from different contributors. It’s our hope that the publication serves as a celebration of Mothers & Daughters, an honouring of those who came before and those who joined us, a vessel for some of our thoughts, an outline of our wild vortex and a gathering place for resources for future trans and lesbian organising in Brussels and beyond. It features personal stories, essays and visuals that explore feminist legacies and create collaborative paths toward a non-patriarchal future. The magazine is based in Brussels and uses personal narratives and provocative imagery to highlight feminist achievements and legacies in arts and writing. The magazine also explores themes of economies, power and the body, often mixing politics with pleasure. https://www.girlslikeusmagazine.com/ https://www.instagram.com/girlslikeusmagazine/ Marouchka is a proud resident DJ at kiosk.radio and an integral member of the poxcat_collective—a collective dedicated to uplifting queer and female-identifying artists—and she’s also a creative force as a graphic designer with bye.byebinary, advocating for gender diversity. As a DJ, her sounds range from obscure 80’s EBM to upbeat electro acid, forgotten wave gems and the occasional trance trove. https://soundcloud.com/marooooouuu https://www.instagram.com/poxcat_collective/
