Who rides there so late through the night dark and drear? The father it is, with his infant so dear; He holdeth the boy tightly clasp'd in his arm, He holdeth him safely, he keepeth him warm. Based on Goethe’s poem The Erl-King, Phia Ménard presents Nocturne (Parade), a magnificent fable about the power of childhood. A child, clinging to his father on the back of a horse, senses an imminent deadly danger that the adult does not see, or refuses to see. It is a parable of our time, an era marked by profound neglect and abandonment. In a circle of light, the wind blows, and shapes come to life. Inflated and moved by gusts of air, these makeshift puppets bring to life the sumptuous and poignant ballet of a world going off the rails. Conceived as a journey through a dark tunnel, this piece immerses the audience in a dreamlike world where you perceive before seeing. By staging this sensory journey, the show invites the audience to take a stand against a threatening night. In this way, Phia Ménard magnificently challenges the ill winds and freedom-crushing forces of obscurantism. Five solidarity tickets at €5 will be set aside for each performance of performing arts projects (with some exceptions).
