This piece explores embracing, as both a choreographic and a political practice. On stage, two bodies, liberated from conventional notions of love. Presented by Swiss artist Bast Hippocrate, Joyaux lourdement sous-estimés [Heavily Underestimated Gems] portrays the relationship between two men who are drawn to each other, tear each other apart, and make up again, navigating self-discovery, physical exploration and romantic unease. Platonic relationships, chemsex, polyamory – the two lovers search for each other as a storm rises against a backdrop of individual traumas. Engaged in a tender and sensual pas de deux set to pop music, the performers lead the audience into the heart of their exchanges of movements and words, revealing the pitfalls of the power dynamics that inevitably take hold. How can we reinvent our way of being with others, of touching, seducing, and loving? Five solidarity tickets at €5 will be set aside for each performance of performing arts projects (with some exceptions).
