Monk Swings

This concert will pay tribute to one of the most unique and important composers of the 20th century. While he was a one the founding fathers of modern jazz, Monk’s piano style was deeply rooted in the earlier stride piano techniques which he adapted into the new, angular, and dissonant harmonic language that created a bridge between swing and bebop. Due the nature of his compositions groove and swing are never far sought.
