In the framework of Picture Perfect In Marseille, inspired by Pamela Anderson, Nina Gazaniol Vérité embarked on a filmic journey alongside several women who have turned to cosmetic surgery and aesthetic medicine. By examining the normalization of these practices, as well as the notions of norms and deviance, the artist and filmmaker also explores her own relationship to femininity. The film shares a process of deconstruction, but perhaps also tells a story of lies and violence, of blood and beauty, of power and self-affirmation. Nina Gazaniol Vérité is a video artist, documentary filmmaker and visual artist based in Marseille. Her work develops a visual language rooted in reality, while blurring the boundaries between reality and creation. She regularly collaborates with various groups and artists with whom she creates projects at the intersection of video art, performance and documentary.
