A month before the official unveiling of the artwork made from real flowers, Mini-Europe is exhibiting an identical reproduction of the Flower Carpet on the miniature Grand Place in Brussels at Mini-Europe. This year, Japan is the guest of honour, marking 160 years of diplomatic relations and friendship between Belgium and Japan. The 2026 design is inspired by Katsushika Hokusai’s ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’, reinterpreted by the Japanese artist Hiro Sugiyama (Enlightenment collective) under the title ‘Neo-Hokusai’.
