La Tricoterie shares its stage exclusively with FLINTA* individuals *women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans, and agender people The open mic AND the jam session are reserved exclusively for FLINTA individuals (even when performing as part of a group). The audience, however, is mixed: everyone is welcome to attend the event! Why a FLINTA stage? In practice, our “traditional” open stages are predominantly attended by men. We’ve therefore set up this FLINTA stage once a month to encourage FLINTA people to take the stage and claim their place in a safer, more supportive, and more inclusive space. Participation by Registration Only Participation is by registration only—via this link. Any FLINTA person can register and participate. There is no on-site “check” or gender verification! From 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM: open mic! You’ll be in the spotlight, in front of a supportive audience eager to discover what you have to offer: music, dance, drag, poetry, magic, lip sync, or any other form of performance—you’re all welcome! Each performance is limited to a maximum of 15 minutes, including setup, the performance itself, and exiting the stage. For musical performances, no background tracks are allowed, to ensure fairness among the various artists. Soundtracks are, of course, still allowed for other types of performances (dance, drag, lip sync, etc.). Starting at 10:30 p.m., the jam begins! All FLINTA performers are welcome to share the stage with others in a spirit of listening, connection, and improvisation. Being attentive to others is key to letting the magic of the stage happen. See you soon!
