I Love Sushi – The Japan Foundation Traveling Exhibition
Rue Van Maerlant 1, 1040 Etterbeek
The Japan Foundation’s traveling exhibition “I Love Sushi” arrives in Belgium, offering visitors an engaging journey into one of Japan’s most iconic culinary traditions. Recognised worldwide as a refined and healthy cuisine, sushi stands as a symbol of washoku, Japan’s traditional food culture, which is inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Through a rich selection of Ukiyoe prints, historical materials, food samples, scale models, videos, and a lifesize replica of a sushi counter, the exhibition explores how sushi evolved over more than a thousand years, from its early origins to the familiar forms enjoyed around the world today. Visitors can discover regional varieties, learn about craftsmanship and ingredients, and gain insight into the cultural significance of sushi in Japanese daily life. This exhibition is presented by the Japan Foundation, in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan in Belgium. Venue: Japan Information & Cultural Centre (JICC), Embassy of Japan in Belgium Address: Rue Van Maerlant/Van Maerlantstraat 1, 1040 Bruxelles Opening Hours: 10:00 – 12:00 & 13:30 – 16:00 Admission: Free
